A Busy Start to 2019 For Brick Central Members

March-Cobblers Bricks

Brick Central members have had a great start to 2019, we had a fantastic time at Cobblers Bricks in March, one of the first shows of the year for many. The show saw around £1000 raised for children with downs syndrome, so all in aid of a good cause as well.

April-Wares The Bricks

The next event to showcase our member’s talents was Wares The Bricks in April, organised by Brick Central member Darren Neely. Following on from last years huge success Darren decided to run this years show as a two-day event so all the people of Ware and the surrounding areas would be able to get in and have a glimpse at some incredible builds.

Darren and his family worked incredibly hard to raise an amazing £6347.54 for the Essex and Herts Air ambulance and donated £500 worth of LEGO sets to SPACE, a charity in Hertfordshire for Autism. A huge well done for his efforts, a great result all round.

Many thanks to A Sweeney Photography for letting us feature their great pictures of the event.

May-Milton Keynes Brick Festival

Brick Central members came together to display their creations at the very first Milton Keynes Brick Festival just a few weekends ago. It’s always great to see members new and old at each of these shows, we’re always astounded at the high quality of the builds, we are very lucky to have some incredibly talented individuals within Brick Central.

The show was organised by Brick Central member Jason and the team at his company Showmasters. Showmasters organise Comic-Con events across the UK and Europe, Jason loves LEGO so branching out into the world of LEGO shows was inevitable.

As the festival was so successful Showmasters have arranged another in London in September and Milton Keynes in November. Check out the links below for more details.

June-Collectormania NEC Birmingham

Our members attended Collectormania for the first time with their builds and were very well received by the public and made a nice addition to all the other features of the show.

Our ambassador Mike was lucky enough to meet Superman actor Brandon Routh and Super Girl actress Helen Slater and of course, getting his build signed by them both, a build certainly to be treasured forever.

So far this year Brick Central has been very busy indeed! We’ve got a busy calendar for the rest of 2019 and we look forward to sharing some building adventures with you.

Happy New Year from Brick Central

Happy New Year ! 2018 was a fantastic year for Brick Central and our members, we had a super start by being fortunate enough to be granted “recognised” status by The LEGO group. With Brick Central becoming an RLUG this gives us a direct link with LEGO through the LEGO Ambassador Network.

This has opened up many more opportunities for our members to be involved in exciting projects and receive unique benefits.

Brick Central has seen some of our incredibly talented members organise a number of shows this year, through their hard work they have raised substantial amounts for their chosen charities.

We feel that it was incredibly generous and honourable of them and we would like to thank them very much for their efforts this year. So a HUGE thank you to...

Neil Burgess- Cobblers Bricks- Children with Downs Syndrome

Darren Neely- Wares The Bricks- Essex and Herts Air Ambulance

Paul Clark- Black Country Bricks- Birmingham Childrens Hospital

Nick Amos- Bristol Bricks- CLIC Sargent

Our AGM was also held to bring our members together, so we were able to discuss many topics that affect our LUG as mature adults, finding appropriate solutions along the way. We ratified the new constitution (which can be read HERE) and decided on a fair way to elect the new committee, being as inclusive as possible.

Through our discussions and as our member base has increased over the last twelve months, we realised more help was needed from our members on the committee and added some important new roles to help in specific areas.

We conducted the election process recently to allow our members to decide who serves on the committee and we're very pleased to announce the new Brick Central committee is as follows:

Chairperson - Ian J Kimpton
Ambassador - Mike Freeman
Treasurer - Iestyn Pocock
Member's Secretary - Ann Khan
Meetings Secretary - Kavan Wilkinson
Events Coordinator - David Tabner
Social Media Secretary - Rhys Knight
Website Coordinator - Jason Mario Marriott

We feel that having more talented people on board will really benefit Brick Central in all areas. Thank you to everyone that participated in the election process to be a member of the committee. We look forward to 2019 and the new committee working closely together for the benefit of the LUG and all our members.

If you're not already a member and would like to see what we're all about you can join us by clicking HERE.

A happy and prosperous New Year to you all.

A fun filled day of LEGO at Bristol Bricks

Last weekend saw Brick Central's last show for 2018 Bristol Bricks !

The show packed in an array of truly incredible builds, it was fantastic to see the happy faces of public as they admired all the displays.

The show raised money for CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families.

Attracting around 1700 visitors over the course of the day it enabled Brick Central member Nick Amos to donate £2000 in cash and over £800 worth of LEGO sets to this fantastic charity.

A huge thank you and well done to Nick and his family for putting on such a great event for such a great cause.

Liberty Bricks LUGFest !

This weekend saw Brick Central's third LEGO event this year, a two day LUGFest ! It really was a jam packed weekend with some incredible builds on display and plenty of fun and games for AFOL's and all the family.

The Saturday night saw a BBQ and quiz take place, and we enjoyed having a few lemonades with our friends from Brick Central and Sheffield LUG too.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous all weekend making it the perfect weekend away for all things LEGO. Members that attended from Brick Central and SLUG would like to say a massive thank you to Dean and all his family for putting on such a great event.

All members commented on what a great show it was and how nice it was to be able to spend time together relaxing with great friends. We look forward to Liberty Bricks 2019 !

LDC Birmingham first look !

Today BriCe was invited for an exclusive first look at the new LEGO discovery centre in Birmingham.  As you can see from the pictures the miniland area looks really impressive, showcasing many landmarks of Birmingham.

Hopefully we'll be arranging some future Brick Central meets at the new discovery centre , we can't wait for our members to get a closer inspection of these fantastic creations.

Wares The Bricks, THIS weekend !

This weekend will see Brick Central's second event of the year Wares The Bricks ! Its going to be a fantastic day out for all the family with lots to see and do.

It goes without saying there will be some amazing LEGO builds that you'll spend hours alone gazing at. We also have Peter Goodwin personally signing copies of his book The Streets of Brickingdon, world record holder Chris Challis with his tower building challenge and a design a minifigure competition.

And of course there'll be lots of LEGO for you to buy, maybe you'll pick up that elusive set or even a certain Police man might be there ? Bring your wallet !

Its set to be a fantastic day out all round but more importantly by attending you'll be helping to raise funds for a fantastic cause the Essex & Herts air ambulance.

We look forward to seeing you there !

Brick Central meet at Lutterworth

Brick Central members got together once again this weekend for a meet in Lutterworth. We've had quite a few new members join Brick Central recently and it was fantastic to see some new faces attend this meet.

The build challenge this month was also the Rebrick contest, calling on entries from our members in two categories Nature and minifigure interiors.

We love to see what our members create and at every meet the builds get better and better. You can see some examples of the builds in the pictures below.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our social media for dates of our future meets, if you'd like to see what Brick Central is all about we'd love you to come and meet us all !

Brick Central at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens

Brick Central were delighted to be asked to attend the Easter celebrations at Castle Bromwich Hall gardens this weekend. A family fun day was organised, with an Easter Egg hunt, Morris Dancing, Easter Bonnet parade and a great selection of our members creations.

The weather wasn't brilliant, but this gave the public a great opportunity to have a look at some of our members builds when sheltering from the rain.

Cobblers Brick Show Northamptons 1st LEGO convention

Cobblers Brick Show Northamptons 1st LEGO convention

This weekend saw a fantastic turn out for Cobbler's Brick Show, Northampton's first LEGO fan convention.  There were a fantastic selection of amazing MOCs to be seen and many activities throughout the day which made it a brilliant event for all the family.

It was especially important for us at Brick Central being our very first official show , a great start on our new journey as a registered LUG. Our member Neil did a fantastic job in the organisation of the event so a massive thank you goes out to him and all displayers and volunteers that made the day what it was.

We can't wait for the second show next year !
