Who we are

We are a Not for Profit user group engaged in the common interest of LEGO related activities.  Our full name is Brick Central LEGO User Group (hereafter referred to as BrickCentral). We are aimed at adults only, otherwise referred to as Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOL). Our website address is: www.brickcentral.org

The Data Protection Act 

The Data Protection Act 2018 (and the General Data Protection Regulations 2018)  imposes rules and safeguards on those who hold and process personal data. As a not-for-profit organisation, BrickCentral is exempt from data protection registration but is subject to the Data Protection Act. In the interests of being open and fair, the Group wishes to inform members of the data held and how it is used.

BrickCentral’s privacy policy is based on one overriding principle: it will not disclose personally identifiable information to third parties, unless it is required to do so by law. All usage of BrickCentral’s databases, personally identifiable information and website is governed by this policy. All activity carried out under the auspices of BrickCentral is also governed by this policy so that members’ personal information is protected at all times.

BrickCentral and its committee members may hold some or all of the following data about some or all members:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Postal and email addresses
  • Telephone numbers

The data may be held in electronic or paper form. The data is obtained directly from a member via their application form or by the member updating their own details.

Using Information

In general, BrickCentral uses information to update members on services offered, to communicate on important issues and to complete business transactions. Specifically, the data is used for informing members about BrickCentral’s AGM and for news updates about BrickCentral.

Data may be distributed in paper or electronic form between committee members. Publication on publicly accessible websites may include name and general location, but addresses, contact details and personal background details will be published only with the explicit consent of the person.

Sharing Information

Unless BrickCentral has permission or is required by law, it will not disclose personally identifiable information to third parties. The data will not be available for commercial marketing purposes.

Opting Out

BrickCentral provides members with the option to:

  • discontinue receiving communications from BrickCentral 
  • request removal of personal information from BrickCentral’s database
  • modify and/or update information previously provided
  • discontinue receiving services altogether

Security Precautions

Access to the BrickCentral databases of members is strictly controlled and can only be accessed by BrickCentral Committee members.

BrickCentral has structured its website such that, a variety of online information and services can be accessed without the need to identify or reveal any personal information. 

E-mail Lists

European laws will also always be strictly adhered to with regards to informing and allowing users to opt out of receiving unsolicited e-mail or other forms of communication; refer to the Opting Out section above for more information.

Updates to this Statement

BrickCentral’s privacy policy and practices will be updated as required in response to new technologies, our members changing needs and to comply with UK and EU law. When changes are made, its Privacy Statement will be updated accordingly, and the revision date will be displayed prominently at the bottom of this Statement.
