Name: Antonia Lynam
Position: Meetings Secretary
Favourite LEGO® Theme: Tough choice! I do collect all the Marvel Minifigs, and I love anything Sci-fi, but I particularly love some of the creator expert sets that come out, such as the cars, and the space shuttle.
My Neo classic space Station Alpha Hangar 3! I built this within 2 weeks for a Facebook group build off! I love building Sci-fi, as you can do anything you like! I always loved the LEGO® Space: Building the Future book by Peter Reid and Tim Goddard, and wanted to build my own take on the theme! I incorporated some lights, and moving turbine fans, and lots of details. My favourite thing is actually one of the smallest: the little hover rovers that are dotted around the build! I have since built a few more and incorporated them into my current ongoing space MOCs! The 2 week time frame was a challenge, and unfortunately, I built it as one big module so it has since had to be demolished! However, I am currently working on a new, even bigger and more unique space MOC.
What got you back in to LEGO®?
I never really grew out of LEGO®, though for a few years as a teenager I didn’t actively pursue the hobby though I always had a few of my favourite sets in my room. While at Uni, I was out shopping with a friend for her brother’s birthday present, when, in the toyshop, I saw the 2011 Millennium Falcon. I just had to take her home with me! Soon after, the VW camper came out, and from there the collection grew. And grew. And grew.
Due to cancelled shows, not having my own 4 wheeled transport and 2020 happening, I haven’t yet displayed at a show, though that will hopefully change by the end of this year! I do however MOC a lot, and partake in plenty of build-offs on social media.
Why do you like being a member of Brick Central?
I love being in contact with like-minded geeks with whom I can share ideas, MOCs, and inspiration, as well as just have a chat! The pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for me as it got me in contact with many of the members of BC, through the Zoom sessions, who I am now fortunate enough to call friends! I am also very proud to represent the LUG on the Organising Committee, and I hope that my previous experience running various organisations and student societies as well as my passion for LEGO® building will help me become a valued asset to the LUG!
